April 2016 Wrap-up

Ooh, this is my first wrap-up post. It feels good, because this means I’ve had my blog for at least a month, and nobody has tried to kick me off WordPress yet. Yay!

Okay, let’s see:

Print books: 12 books, 3326 pages

Audiobooks: 8 books, 2302 pages, approx. 68.06 hours

Comics/Graphic novels: 625 pages

Total number of books/comics: 25

Total page count: 6253

Read My Own Damn Books update: I read 16 of my own damn books.

Read The Books You Buy update: Including pre-orders, I bought a total of 15 books in May, of which I read 9. Ack, Bookstore Day on the last day of the month definitely skewed this number.

Holy cow, this month has been a good one for reading, and all of the credit goes to Dewey’s Readathon. I don’t feel too bad about my Bookstore Day splurge anymore, because most of the books I read in April were my own. Here’s hoping National Readathon Day (May 21st, mark your calendars) does the same for May!

What did your reading look like in April? Link up your wrap-up posts in the comments below!

  1. You are KICKING ASS!! 7 of the 32 books I read were MyOwnDamnBooks, and all but two of the others were library loans. (I can’t believe I only bought 2 books! This book buying ban is killing me! lol) I feel like I twitter-comment on so many of your books as you’re reading them, but STORY OF A HAPPY MARRIAGE is one of my favorites and it helped me get out of a writing slump last year, so it will always have a special place in my heart. 🙂 I wish I could do better with audio books, but I have such a hard time staying focused instead of letting my mind wander!

    1. Do NOT stop twitter commenting! I love reading about what others feel about the books I’ve read/am reading, but Goodreads is so clunky I don’t like looking at reviews there. 32 books?! That’s AMAZING! Props to you because you’re doing much better than I am with the book-buying-ban part. I only started listening to audiobooks last September, and I love the format because I don’t have to listen to the radio in the car or at work, and I’m motivated to exercise because of them. Maybe stick with shorter books on audio? I use that rewind button a lot because my focusing skills are nothing to write home about.

    1. Nicely done! Yeah, Dewey’s definitely skewed my numbers this month, so it’ll be interesting to see how I do in May. Plus, I’ve got a bunch of galleys to read so between those and my own unread books the library will have to wait for a while.
