July 18th, 2016: It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme currently hosted by The Book Date. It’s a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week, and add to that ever-growing TBR stack.

I mentioned last week that I was in sort of a shitty place because of the things happening in the world (PSA: I don’t know why I started a blog when there’s so much upheaval in my life and in the world that I am constantly talking about being in shitty headspaces. I apologize, that was definitely not my intention). I have been focusing on checking up on dear friends that are struggling with all of these things as well and have been choosing to spend time with them and such, so that’s been helpful.

As far as reading goes, I am still in my difficult/social justice book zone, so in the past week I finished The Fireman by Joe Hill as part of the #FiremanAlong happening in July, and read a bunch of comics that feature diverse characters and creators- Ms. Marvel volume 5, Black Panther #3, Nighthawk #1, New Super-Man #1, and Alex+ Ada volumes 2 and 3. It’s been great.

Currently on the roster:

Slowly plugging away at Evicted, which is a work-related read, re-reading Coates with Kerry (it’s her first time), and reading A Little Life along with Lauren

I know I haven’t posted anything other than these meme posts all through July. Please bear with me, it still doesn’t feel okay to me to post much more than this at the moment.

  1. Never apologize for your posts! I’m just happy to see you pop up in my Feedly.

I really enjoyed Alex + Ada — I gobbled up all three volumes in about a week. It was just good and thoughtful and satisfying all around, and definitely much (relatively!) lighter than all your other current reads.

Hope you’re well, my friend! ❤
