July 2016 Wrap-Up

So July:

I’ll just skip right ahead to book data.

Print books: 13 books, 3924 pages.

Audiobooks: 2 book, 604 pages, approx.  15 hours

Graphic novels/Comics: 11, 1020 pages.

Total number of books/comics: 24

Total page count: 5548

Read My Own Damn Books:  19

This month is a perfect illustration of why I love data. I honestly had not been paying attention to my reading the entire month, so I started writing this post dreading how low the numbers were going to be and grumbling about moving once again. Clearly I’d read more than I remembered reading. Kind of had an audiobook lull- nothing was grabbing my interest. Also, it’s interesting how much my numbers skew when it’s a readathon month, especially since I did no reading in the last week of July. Hurray readathons!

Do you guys have any cool audiobook suggestions? I’m all ears.

  1. I’ve never read 13 print book in one month, ever. x) I’d love to see data on one of your higher reading months.
I saw you tweeting about or updating Goodreads for a lot of the print books because I’m super nosy. Was happy to hear how much you enjoyed Juliet Takes a Breath. That book is a gem and I hope it gets the success and recognition it deserves.

I don’t do audiobooks generally so I can’t help you there. Sorry. ❤

  2. Goodness! That IS ALOT of books. Do you eat them? Between the world and me is on my TBR. No audio book suggestions. I dont listen to many audiobooks. Recently I heard The Elephant Vanishes by Murakami and liked it. Those are short stories. SO you might feel frustrated too.

    1. This is my second time reading Between The World And Me. The first time I did it in audio. It’s a powerful book. Yeah, I’ve been satiated on audiobooks for a few weeks now. Nothing is grabbing me. Hopefully soon.

  3. HA. Low numbers, my foot! 😉 But totally get that feeling of thinking you haven’t read a danged thing only to realize you’ve read a bunch. Were you less into your books in general, or maybe less engaged because of the impending move?

Tell me your thoughts about Alex + Ada and Locke & Key!

    1. I’ve been thinking about it all day- and realized it was because I had 3 giant chunks of reading time, which all happened before readathon. The week after readathon I spent packing and moving, which feels like a lot longer than it really was. I really loved Alex+Ada and Locke & Key- such excellent series! I know you were on the fence about A&A but it’s a grand total of 3 volumes so I urge you to stick with it, it’s totally worth it. I borrowed Locke & Key from a friend so hoping to borrow and read the rest of the series before I leave! Joe Hill is a such good storyteller.

  4. Have you heard the audio book of Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis? It’s middle grade fiction and it is SO GOOD and charming and funny. The narrator of the version I listened to was James Avery, also known as the dad from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
