November 7th, 2016: It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme currently hosted by The Book Date. It’s a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week, and add to that ever-growing TBR stack.

It’s been a couple of months since I’ve been on here and I’m back with a pithy meme post, I know. Sporadic is my middle name. I’ve just been reading and traveling, and have chosen to spend any writing time I have to well…not doing much. I’m sure we’re all still talking and squeeing over books all over other social media (Did I mention that I love Litsy so much?) so I’m not too worried.

Hmm, this week, let’s see. It is (finally) the eve of the Most Anticipated (Dreaded) Presidential Election of 2016, so positive vibes for my American friends. Remember, there’s still work to be done after tomorrow, so let’s keep fighting the good fight.

My reading plans for this week are being dictated by the gods of library holds. Since they all came in at once, I’d like to read and return ASAP so the next person in line can access the book (I can be nice, ya know?)

Here goes:

(My other middle name is idiotically ambitious.)

Ooooh also, ALL OF MY BOOKS ARE FINALLY WITH ME. All my stuff that I shipped out from the US finally arrived, which meant I spent a few glorious and slightly overwhelming hours sorting and organizing my bookshelf. Yes, this means that once in awhile (the definition of awhile is idiosyncratic) I randomly open that cupboard just to stare at those shelves. Before you judge me I’d like you to try being separated from your babies for 8 weeks and then try not to stare at them forever. Uh huh, that’s what I thought.

Okay lovelies, I shall now proceed to dive headfirst into this TBR and bury myself in all these glorious reads. I may still be trying to find enough words to be on here frequently, but you can still catch me on Twitter, Litsy, or Instagram at theshrinkette. Let’s talk books!

Ooh, also, what have you been reading lately? I’d love to know!

  1. Your shelf looks great! I need to get around to finally put mine in some kind of order soon… hopefully. Also, I REALLY want to read Sorcerer to the Crown. It’s been on my list for a while now, but I’m not sure I’m ready for that kind of commitment. I can barely get myself to read short books right now.

Currently, I’m doing a “buddy read” for A Gathering of Shadows that is going ever so slowly.

  2. Isn’t it awesome to get your books in the mail? And unpack them and put them on shelves? That is the greatest thing. I love choosing my organizational systems — it’s the only thing about moving that doesn’t suck.

I’m reading Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (so fun!) and also Genevieve Valentine’s novel Icon, the sequel to Persona. I’m hoping that my memory is sufficient for both of them that I can remember what happened in the first one of both series. Mmm the vagaries of reading books in series.

  3. The Girl from Everywhere!! I LOVE that book! And Mt Char is cuckoo bananas so perfect for this week. I really want to read the Sorcerer and the Crown so tell me how it is!
